Focus | Cibler l’objectif

During the Focus | Cibler l’objectif phase, students engage in setting up their inquiry. Students select a focus, a question (or questions) or a topic of interest. They collaborate with other learners to talk about their personal connections and prior knowledge to elicit predictions and hypotheses and to share their thinking and questions.

Guiding questions students may ask during the Focus| Cibler l’objectif phase:

• Quels sont mes objectifs d’apprentissage ? | What are my learning goals?

• Qu’est-ce que je m’attends à apprendre de cette enquête ? Qu’est-ce que je veux savoir ? | What do I expect to learn from this inquiry? What do I want to find out?

• Quelles grandes questions intrigantes puis-je dérivé de l’objet de ma recherche (la problématique) ? Quelle question focale vais-je examiner ? | What intriguing questions do I have about the topic/ problem/ issue? What focal question will I explore?

• Est-ce que ma question principale incite la recherche et suscite plusieurs réponses ? Encourage-t-elle l’investigation et l’exploration ? | Is my question one I can research and does it have multiple possible answers? Can my question(s) be answered through investigation?

• L’objet de la recherche ou la problématique est-elle significative, importante ou intéressante ? Pourquoi ai-je choisi ce sujet/ problème/ thème ? Pourquoi c’est important pour moi ? | Why is the topic/ problem/ issue significant, important, or interesting? Why does this topic/ problem/ issue matter to me?

• Quels sont mes liens personnels avec le sujet/ problème/ thème ? | What are my personal connections to the topic/ problem/ issue?

• Quelles sont mes expériences antérieures qui pourraient m’aider ? | What are my past experiences that could help?

• Quelle est la signification de ma question principale vis à vis ma vie, la communauté, la nation, le monde ? | What is the significance of the topic/ problem/ issue to my life, the community, the nation, the world?

• Comment le sujet/ problème/ thème est-il lié aux événements du monde réel ? | How does the topic/ problem/ issue relate to real-world events?

• Qu’est-ce que je sais déjà à ce sujet ? Qu’est-ce que je crois savoir à ce sujet ? | What do I currently know or think I know about this topic/ problem/ issue?

• Sur quoi dois-je mettre l’accent ? Quels sont les concepts clés/ importants ? | What do I want to focus on? What are the key/important concepts?

• À quels résultats est-ce que je m’attends ? Comment saurai-je si j’ai réussi ? | What results do I expect? How will I know if I have succeeded?

• Quels sont mes premières prédictions ? hypothèses ?suppositions ? | What are my initial predictions? hypotheses? assumptions?

• Ai-je utilisé les critères d’évaluation pour développer des grandes questions efficaces pour l’enquête ? Est-ce que les questions conduisent à des réponses qui m’aideront à réaliser ma tâche ? | Have I used the assessment criteria for building effective questions for my inquiry? Will my question(s) lead me to answers that will fulfill my assignment?

• Mes questions sont-elles spécifiques, concises et clairement formulées ? axées sur la question ? | Are my questions specific, concise and clearly formulated? focused on the topic/ problem/ issue?

• Ai-je développé des questions secondaires liées au sujet/ problème/ thème qui m’aideront à réaliser mon enquête ? | Have I developed secondary questions about the topic/problem/ issue to help guide my inquiry?
